5 Reasons the Dodgers position players will help win the World Series in 2019
- Cody Bellinger– Cody is in the top 3 in almost every offensive and defensive category this year. He is the frontrunner for the MVP race in the national league and is becoming a leader on and off the field. Cody changed his swing and approach this year at the plate to adjust to the holes he had in his swing. Cody is now standing at the very back inside line of the box. He has is extremely fast and has the most infield singles in all of baseball. Last year and his rookie season were great years, but he had a boom or bust swing and this year he is adjusting to pitching and situations and it has showed.
- Corey Seager– Corey is the big boost that the Dodgers did not have last year and has been quiet most of this year. Last year Corey had his season cut short due to tommy John surgery as well as hip surgery. They were nagging injuries he had played through for years. Corey made it back just in time for the beginning of the season and did not get off to a good start. About a month ago Corey got hot and was looking like his old self until a hamstring injury sidelined him for almost a month. Now that he is back, he will be a solid addition to the already scary batting lineup the Dodgers have.
- AJ Pollock– AJ was the big offseason free agent signing. He started the year in centerfield for the Dodgers and did not look that great. Then he went down with an injury to his arm from a previous surgery he had done years before. He just came back about a week ago and has been playing amazing baseball with 3 homeruns already this week. Having AJ back is big because the Dodgers are mostly lefty hitters and AJ are a righty and hits great with runners in scoring position. He is also a gold glove centerfielder and sets the Dodgers up with a consistent middle of the lineup right handed bat.
- Max Muncy– Max had a slow start to the year and had many fans worried he may have been a one hit wonder last year. Max has since taken off even making the All Start team. He has now hit 25 homeruns and has a good chance at getting to 40 before the year is over. Max brings versatility being able to play 1st, 2nd or 3rd base and can hit righty and lefty pitching extremely well.
- Alex Verdugo– Alex has been the most pleasant surprise as a rookie holding his own on an All-Star Dodgers lineup. Alex did not hit very many homers in the miners but is already hit 11 this year with a good chance to get to 20 homers while having a high batting average. The amazing thing is he is a contact hitter that doesn’t strike out a lot so him adding homeruns has really been a boost to his productivity. He is also a gold glove caliber outfielder that can play right, left or centerfield with an extremely strong arm.
